William Rhodes Center for International Economics & Finance at Brown University
The William R. Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance is an institute dedicated to exploring how international economics and finance impact the world that we inhabit today. Re-founded at the Watson Institute in 2018, the goal is to support interdisciplinary scholarship that seeks to understand how such global processes matter for both local politics and national welfare.
The William R. Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance works at the intersection of research and public engagement. It seeks, through research collaborations, conferences, and other events, to bring these insights to both policymakers and the wider public. As it grows over the next several years it aims to build capacity and programing along three axes:
- Sponsoring and fostering interdisciplinary research among Brown faculty, and between Brown faculty and external units and centers.
- Whether in the form of the launch of important and timely books and reports, sponsored conferences on relevant themes, or research presentations, the William R. Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance seeks to make how the worlds of international economics and finance impact all our lives more central to discussions at Brown and beyond.
- The William R. Rhodes Center for International Economics and Finance seeks to promote its insights beyond the Brown community. It aims to establish two regular Podcast series, “The Rhodes Center Podcast,” that features interviews with Center Visitors and Fellows, and “All We Know So Far,” a topical news-driven Podcast that it hopes to syndicate widely. The Center will also establish a YouTube channel for all our content.
